EVOLUTION An imaginative representation of human evolution. The sculpture incorporates three movements:- on the right: mental purpose - direct and tense, like a well focused thought; on the left: feeling - weaker and easily influenced; at the centre: action - in a state of rest during its struggling, spiral ascent. It is the slow course of evolution and the sculpture emphasises the difference between intent - rendered acute by knowledge; and action - winding and difficult to accomplish. Considerations: The evolutionary force, with its wide sweeps, entwines humanity in its motion. It portrays the thousands of illusions which each human being must dispel before discovering himself to be a conscious point of light. No. 64 H. 21" Wt. 8¾ lb |
