DUALITY The figure expresses energy and movement. At the centre a point of turmoil and of tension, the essence of being or of man, contended for by two opposing forces: one drawing upwards - the Spirit, represented by clean, smooth lines; the other drawing downwards - Matter, represented by a rough, coarse finish. It is an artistic interpretation of the incessant struggle between Good and Bad. Considerations: Spirit and Matter, Good and Bad, Light and Darkness, Birth and Death. The essence of existence is dual: the mysterious division of the original unity which cyclic evolution recomposes and decomposes, time after time, without end. No. 63 H. 17¾" Wt. 6½ lb |
