THE ARTIST
Patrizio Zanazzo was born in Rome on 16 November 1947. He has therefore
had the good fortune of growing up in a city blessed with one of the
world's richest artistic and architectural heritages. Constantly surrounded
by works of art he was able, both consciously and subconsciously,
to appreciate them and to absorb them into his being.
In his early years he attended the Rome Istituto d'Arte and
then the Accademia delle Belle Arti but after a few years of
study in the latter abandoned all forms of formal academic training
when he realised that, at least for him, they served no purpose whatsoever.
He considers himself to be self-taught, although this does not accurately
explain his intensely creative vein. He is a born artist and
has not therefore required teaching or training of any kind. His artistic
ability is innate: pure creative energy that pours unimpeded through
him to find expression in virtually whatever material comes to hand:
resin, rubber, clay, marble, bronze, plexiglas.
Although mainly a sculptor he periodically delights in painting and,
very recently, has also lent his hand (and vivid fertile imagination)
to computer graphics - with surprising results. With great ease he
quickly masters working any material.
Simple, modest and introvert: qualities frequently found in the true
artist whose entire drive is channelled into creative expression,
and where no part is lost to the winds; whose whole being is concentrated
into his one great love: his artwork.
